After successfully collaborating with FIBA and Host Cities on the 2019 Men’s Basketball Cup in China, GBE were chosen to deliver the Game Experience Programme for the 2022 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Sydney.
This event is one of the most prestigious women’s sporting competitions in international basketball and saw 12 powerhouse nations play 38 games across 10 days in two venues.
GBE’s scope included the planning and delivery of all Sport Presentation including showcalling. We delivered Opening and Closing Ceremonies, with special effects, lighting sequences and live performances along with a First Nation’s performance and Welcome Ceremony.
Our innovative additional Game Experience elements such as music, interactive segments, entertainment and elevated team entries ensured the 2022 World Cup was at the forefront of spectator experience.
We worked closely with the LOC and FIBA to develop our Ultimate Fan App for the tournament. The App allowed fans to have their branded photo appear on the big screen, vote for their favourite track and participate in activities like stadium light shows synced to music. The Fan Experience App was a huge success with over one million votes cast and thousands of photos taken and shared. With clever integration through our proprietary PV4 system, GBE also provided a stylishly FIBA branded and vibrant suite of content, stats and graphics providing a real WOW Factor to the event.
The tournament was considered an outstanding success, with fever pitch crowds and passionate fans filling stands and enjoying the raft of experiences and entertainment provided graphics on-demand.
